This revised edition is based on the guide first published in 2011. The updated and expanded edition adds more than 40 new destinations to the original 78 ski tours, ranging from the mid-mountains all the way to Austria’s highest peak, the 3798-metre-high Großglockner. The new edition describes 120 peaks, with all changes on the ground updated. For most destinations, options for ascents and descents from neighbouring peaks are also included, expanding the guide’s offering to almost 180 destinations.
Most of the tours described are of moderate physical and technical difficulty and, with the additional options provided, are suitable for a wide range of skiers. Some peaks are very straightforward and suitable for ski touring beginners, while those who can handle the most challenging terrain will also find plenty to enjoy.
All the tours can be completed in one or two days, as most starting points are reachable within an hour or so from the Karawanks Tunnel.
The book is also useful for snowboarders, as a dedicated section of the guide highlights which destinations are suitable for ascents and descents on a snowboard.
