The mountaineering and life partnership of Habjan – Mušič has enriched Slovenian guidebook literature with a new guidebook, which they say is their toughest challenge to date.

They have been visiting the Eastern Alps for 15 years, and over the last three years they have devoted themselves to systematically exploring the Alpine peaks west of the Julian Alps, specifically for this guidebook.

Additional information

The selection of objectives alone gives an idea of their mountaineering achievement. It covers the most interesting peaks in all the major mountain groups across the extensive eastern Alpine arc, from the Carnic Alps through the Dolomites and the Austrian and German Alps to the Bernina on the Italian-Swiss border.

The routes vary in length and difficulty, from straightforward ascents to via ferratas of varying difficulty, glacier tours and easier climbing routes. Some of the most difficult ascents occasionally reach grade III+, but only because there is no easier way to the summit.

The book is intended for experienced, curious and fit mountaineers. For some of the most demanding routes in the guidebook, which require mountaineering experience and expertise, we recommend being accompanied by a mountaineer or mountain guide.
