The Specialized Epic is one of the most iconic cross-country bikes in our sport, having earned more medals and titles than we care to count; but with the word “EVO” added to its name, this racing machine becomes a completely different tool. If you’re unfamiliar with the term EVO, you simply need to know that it’s Specialized’s way of saying they’ve taken a classic design and expanded its capabilities. In the Epic’s case, this means the bike has been given a longer fork and a dropper seatpost. The goal was to transform this XC race bike into a lightweight trail shredder. Our testers spent some time on the latest version of the Epic, but the EVO promises a completely different ride.
