The Salewa Brenta RDS Down Jacket Kid is a technical insulated jacket for children, featuring 550 cuin duck down and TirolWool® Responsive inserts, designed for ski touring and winter hiking. Weighing just 220 g, it provides reliable warmth and freedom of movement, even in damp mountain conditions.

What conditions and activities is it suited to?

This premium insulated jacket for children is designed for ski touring and outdoor winter activities. Its thoughtfully designed hybrid construction makes it ideal for cold days in the mountains, when children need maximum warmth with minimal weight. It can be worn as an outer layer in dry weather or as an exceptionally warm mid-layer under a waterproof jacket.

Key features and materials

  • Duck down insulation: Filled with 550 cuin down (80/20 ratio), providing excellent insulation and certified to the strict RDS (Responsible Down Standard).
  • TirolWool® Responsive inserts: Strategically placed 100 g/m² synthetic insulation in areas more exposed to moisture retains its thermal properties even when wet.
  • Water-repellent finish (DWR): The outer 20D nylon fabric has a durable, PFC-free finish that effectively repels light snow and moisture.
  • Ergonomic design: Specially shaped sleeves and shoulders, along with elasticated edging on the cuffs, hem and hood, help keep cold air out and body heat in.
  • Sustainable materials: The taffeta lining (47 g/m²) is bluesign® certified, and the entire product meets Salewa Committed’s strict environmental and social standards.

Cut and fit

The jacket has a standard (Regular) fit, allowing comfortable wear over base layers and lightweight mid-layers. The 53 cm back length provides good coverage of the lower back, which is essential when bending down and playing in the snow.

Frequently asked questions

How should I care for and wash the jacket?

Machine washing on a cold synthetic cycle is recommended. Do not tumble dry, iron or dry-clean the jacket.

Is the jacket suitable for heavy rain?

No. The outer nylon fabric has a PFC-free DWR finish that repels light snow and drizzle. For heavy rain or wet snow, we recommend wearing a waterproof outer layer (hardshell).
