MIPS is a brain protection system designed to add 10 % extra safety to the standard construction of helmets in the event of certain impacts. The MIPS Brain Protection System (BPS) is fitted inside the helmet, between the comfort padding and EPS.
The rear of the helmet has a significant impact on how well ventilated it is, with the exit of warm air from inside being a key priority. The MET Trenta Mips has a flat rear deflector, angled at 25°, allowing for the inclusion of two wide exhaust vents that optimise airflow when riding on steep terrain and during intense riding.
Originally developed by NACA, the predecessor to NASA, this vent’s position at the front of the helmet has a cooling effect. Harnessing the power of the Venturi effect, the vent pushes warm air out of the helmet through specially positioned exhaust vents. This ensures a constant flow of air through the helmet, without wind escaping and creating drag.
The all-round strap allows 360° adjustment, while the inside of the helmet also has 4 vertical adjustment positions and 2 occipital adjustment positions. The rear of the helmet is also compatible with a ponytail or a MET USB LED light.
The rear of the helmet also serves an aerodynamic purpose. It works in synergy with the front NACA vent and the rear deflector to channel airflow effectively. The rear section has a lower profile, developed thanks to dedicated wind tunnel testing at the NEWTON laboratory in Milan.
