The Epic EVO has a seemingly modest 20 millimetres more front travel and 10 millimetres more rear travel than its sibling, the Epic. The EVO’s new suspension kinematics work together with Rx XC Tune suspension, customised front and rear, to make the most of every centimetre of travel while still retaining all the characteristics of efficient pedalling.
The Epic EVO still offers the most capable progressive XC geometry ever seen on an Epic. It is also more versatile than ever, thanks to a new rear end equipped with flip-chips, allowing riders to adjust the head tube angle (by half a degree) and bottom bracket height (by 10mm) to easily tailor the Epic EVO’s handling characteristics.

The Specialized Epic is one of the most iconic cross-country bikes in our sport, having earned more medals and titles than we care to count; but with the word “EVO” added to its name, this racing machine becomes an entirely different tool. If you’re not familiar with the term EVO, all you need to know is that it’s Specialized’s way of saying they’ve taken a classic design and broadened its capabilities. In the case of the Epic, that means the bike has gained a longer-travel fork and a dropper seatpost. The aim was to transform this XC race bike into a lightweight trail shredder. Our testers spent some time with the latest version of the Epic, but the EVO promises a completely different ride.
